Their final analysis states, “Based on what we now know, we have come to the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true.”
News of the live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners was first reported by The Epoch Times earlier this year. The story was revealed by 3 Chinese witnesses, including a former journalist, and a nurse whose husband was a surgeon directly involved with the live organ harvesting of the Falun Gong practitioners. None of these witnesses are themselves practitioners.
The Canadians spent the past 2 months researching and reviewing the growing body of evidence supporting these claims. “Our conclusion comes not from any one single item of evidence, but rather the piecing together of all the evidence we have considered. Each portion of the evidence we have considered is, in itself, verifiable and, in most cases, incontestable. Put together, they paint a damning whole picture. It is their combination that has convinced us.”
The 46-page report, comprehensive in its scope, begins with a description of the investigators’ approach and methodology. Any and all evidence was considered and followed to its natural conclusion, and are included in the appendix. These include personal testimony, published reports by NGO and other government agencies, statistical data and information taken from various China hospital websites, detailed transcripts and taped recordings of phone calls made to various hospitals in China by independent investigators, as well as official policy directives by the Chinese Communist Party that could be verified.
The investigation begins with a recounting of the historical evidence of the persecution of Falun Gong, from its rise in popularity in the early 1990s to the brutal crackdown in 1999 by former President Jiang Zemin. The persecution of Falun Gong was made official by CCP policy. The report states “According to Li Baigen, then assistant director of the Beijing Municipal Planning office who attended the meeting, during 1999, the three men heading the 610 office called more than 3000 officials to the Great Hall of the People in the capital to discuss the campaign against Falun Gong, which was then not going well. Demonstrations were continuing to occur around the capital. The head of the 610 office, Li Lanqing, verbally announced the government’s new policy on the movement: “defaming their reputations, bankrupting them financially and destroying them physically.” It appears to have been only after this meeting that the deaths of adherents at police hands began to be recorded as suicides.”
The report further reveals that classified information obtained by author Jennifer Zeng confirms that by the end of April 2001, there had been approximately 830,000 arrests of Falun Gong practitioners . The authors state “Large numbers of Falun Gong adherents in arbitrary indefinite secret detention alone do not prove the allegations. But the opposite, the absence of such pool of detainees, would undermine the allegations. An extremely large group of people subject to the exercise of the whims and power of the state, without recourse to any form of protection of their rights, provides a potential source for organ harvesting of the unwilling.”
A large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners have disappeared, presumably captured, their whereabouts unknown to their friends and families. In reviewing the number of transplants that have taken place in China, the report states “According to public records, there were approximately 30,000 transplants in total done in China before 1999 and about 18,500 in the 6-year period 1994 to 1999. Professor Bingyi Shi, vice-chair of the China Medical Organ Transplant Association, says that there were about 90,000 in total up until 2005, leaving about 60,000 in the six year period 2000 to 2005 since the persecution of Falun Gong began.”
The researchers were able to account for a small percentage of the supply of organ donations from executed prisoners and from family donations. Therefore, they asked the question “Where do the organs come from for the 41,500 transplants? The allegation of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners provides an answer.” Based on these statistics, the investigators concluded that the allegations are true.
This is Teresa Tan for SOH Radio.

Charges Against Wenyi Wang Were Dropped

Charges Against Wenyi Wang Were Dropped (audio)

An interview with Dr. Wenyi Wang immediately after the federal charges against her were dropped.

Military Hospital Openly Admits Transplant Organs Come From Falun Gong Practitioners

Military Hospital Openly Admits Transplant Organs Come From Falun Gong Practitioners (audio)

Military Hospital Openly Admits Transplant Organs Come from Falun Gong Practitioners
By Li Sisi and Tang Mei
Sound of Hope Radio May 02, 2006

Chengdu City Air Force Hospital, Sichuan Province, China, has become a busy transplant center. (Photo from the hospital website)On April 28, a Sound of Hope journalist made contact with one kidney transplant surgeon in Beijing. The surgeon said, because there were more organ donors in Sichuan province, China, he had been temporarily transferred to Sichuan local military hospital to help out. The doctors in the Air Force Hospital admitted they had young and healthy Falun Gong practitioner donors.

[Download telephone recording from Sound of Hope. ]

Tsinghua University Yuquan Hospital, also known as No. 2 Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University, is a noted kidney transplant centre. Kidney Transplant Department Chief Li Honghui said that every year the centre performed over 100 transplants but recently, the donor pool in Beijing was a shrinking, so two months ago, he was transferred to a military hospital in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province to assist with the overload; that region had plenty of donors.

Li Honghui: "We were in the military district!"

Journalist: "Is it because there were more kidney donors, that you went there to perform surgeries?"

Li Honghui: "Yes"

Li said that it was several years ago that organs mostly came from Falun Gong practitioner; when the journalist asked whether they could provide Falun Gong practitioner donor organs, he answered, "Yes."

Li Honghui: "It happened that for the past several years that donor organs were from Falun Gong practitioners."

Journalist: "Do you mean that this type of donor was quite easy to get several years ago."

Li Honghui: "That's true."

Journalist: "Can you supply young and healthy donors, such as people who practice Falun Gong?"

Li Honghui: "This request can be considered, I will tell you when the time comes"

Li Honghui said there would be a batch of kidneys on April 30.

Li Honghui: "Today I inform you that there will be kidneys available the day after tomorrow. Can you make it tomorrow, because we will have a new batch of kidneys the day after tomorrow.

Only one or two kidneys in every batch are provided to foreigners, because the rest are required here in the mainland there are one or two hundred mainland patients waiting for the organ."

Air Force Hospital Department Chief Xu Yahong, who has 22 years experience said the hospital started to bring in kidney transplant surgery in the middle of 1980s. Up to now, he personally had performed around 500 operations, and in the past two to three years, he has performed an average of 100 surgeries in a year.

Xu Yahong: "I have totally performed around 500 surgeries, but for the past two three years, an average of 100 operations in a year."

Xu Yahong said, there would be a batch of kidney donors in the middle of May, and there would be volunteer donors, and that the hospital could provide young and healthy Falun Gong practitioners' organs.

Journalist: "Is that right! There will be quite a lot of donors in May?"

Xu Yahong: "That's right. We perform surgeries every month. Around May 20, before end of May, there should not be any problem; we carry supplies all the time. Speaking in a conservative way we still have other supplies, but, regarding this, I think we should talk about this issue after we meet. We have young donors."

Journalist: "Is that right that you have young donors?"

Xu Yahong: "Positively, our donors are young, we have volunteers."

Journalist: "He (journalist pretend to represent a patient) emphasized that the donor must be young and healthy; the best would be the person who practices Falun Gong, do you have any chance?"

Xu Yahong: "Yes, we have."

Journalist: "Are you sure?"

Xu Yahong: "(Military) hospitals like us have this kind of opportunity; please contact us after May 15."

A nurse from West China Hospital, also located in Chengdu City, said they performed six kidney transplants in a day.

Nurse: "Just today, we performed six kidney transplants."

According to a reliable source from inside the Communist regime, organ harvesting from Falun Gong, including live organ removal and subsequent incineration of the bodies, has always happened in China's labor camps and local police hospitals, including paramilitay police hospitals and military hospitals, which collude with labor camps and illegal organ traders to do the organ trade together.

From the mainland organ transplant patents, it was noted that in the three years from 2002 to 2004 there were 13 patents submitted by nine universities, and all of them are top class universities in China, and Sichuan University is number one, it had two patents in 2004 and one patent in 2003. And there are seven kidney transplant centre in Chengdu City, nine in Chongqing City and five in other areas of Sichuan province.

Former Police Officer Eye Witnessed Horrific Organ Harvesting In Kwangtung Province, China

Former Police Officer Eye Witnessed Horrific Organ Harvesting In Kwangtung Province, China (audio)

My name is Zhang Jianhua. I was a cop in the LongGang District Branch of the Police Department in Shenzhen City, Guangdong province in China. I was born on June 30, 1959.
I finished my military service in 1981 and became a local policeman in Shenzhen City in 1987. I was a cop in charge of anti-smuggling and anti-drug trafficking works at that time. My jobs involved some intelligence work, so I was very familiar with some of the internal operations of the Chinese communist party, its corruption, killing people, the persecution system against Falun Gong and many dark sides of the communist party.

It was 1998 and I was investigating a case, one of the largest cases of drug trafficking in Asia. The case was coded "961", I recalled. The main criminal was called Wang Tiansong, and he had a subordinate named: "Chen Hongzai". I knew this guy and he used to be one of my inside men. Anyway, he also got involved in drug trafficking and I could not help him out anymore. But, his family members also knew me, so his brother in Hongkong asked me to help him see his brother for the last time before execution. They were afraid that the organs would be taken away and local people also believe that it was a bad omen for the family if the organs were taken away.

They knew that taking away the organs were a routine practice, and there was no place for the family members to complain about it, and no way for the family to see the body or bring the body back home after execution. It is a secret practice and no outsiders were allowed to know about it.

So, on that day, there were 6 people to be executed, including Chen Hongzai. The whole process was quite secret.

The execution site was about two hours away from the cremation site. The operation was run by armed police. Why use armed police? Because it belongs to the military system and have better security and discipline for keeping the secrets. The Central Military Committee has certain policies that make people on death row to not be treated as human..and only people in police systems, like me, would be able to know some inside situation.

I went to the execution site to see the process. I saw that they fired at the back of the necks. In doing so, there would be little bleeding. The execution site was pretty simple, and had no hills around it so no one could see what was happening from remote places even with telescopes.

I was curious and went closer to see what was happening. Because I was a policeman so they did not block me. I was surprised at the beginning that there were several vans that had curtains over the windows. I once stayed in a armed police hospital for about a month for treatment of my stomach disease. I knew that the armed police hospitals recruited a lot of young doctors from Medical Universities for the research study of organ transplants. A lot of these young people still dreamed about immigrating to other countries. However, once they got involved in organ transplant studies, they would never get a chance to leave China, because they were exposed to the secret operation of this organ business. Many of them were quite regretful that they got involved in this.

The process of execution was fast. Once the executions were done, the bodies were quickly moved into the waiting vans. The people handling the bodies were armed policemen wearing the white medical gowns.

Actually, two of the vans were not from the armed police hospitals, instead, those two vans were from the Shenzhen City Hospital. So, they might not have enough medical vans, so they borrowed the vans from the City hospitals.
But the drivers and staff were basically all from armed police hospitals, with a few exception of military doctors who still wore their military hats. Maybe they were the experts from the military. On the way to the cremation facility, the security was very tight, even more stringent than protecting some visiting leaders. There were police cars leading and protecting all the way and no other automobiles could come close to the vans.

Once we arrived at the cremation site, Chen's brother wanted to see Chen for the last time. I told him that there would be no way for him to see the body if he did not have a police uniform. So, I lent him a police uniform. The crematory was under tight security with policemen surrounding the whole facility. No ordinary cremations were allowed on that day. Even the staff in the crematory were not allowed to come near it, except the cremation workers. Since Chen's brother strongly demanded to see his brother for the last time, I took the risk. I told the guards that we were cops from the LongGang branch and we needed to take a few extra photos for these criminals to make our investigation records complete.

Quite often, the young soldiers did not have much education, so they wouldn't be too cautious. So they said that it was ok for you to take a look, but just don't get too close because the order was that nobody should stay near the bodies or closer than two meters distance. So, we looked at the bodies from about two meters away. I saw those body bags were pretty professional, even with characters indicating that the bags belonged to the Central Military Committee. The bags were transparent, and the bodies were soaked in blood; probably after the surgery, blood was everywhere.

A guard opened the bag for us to take a photo, but Chen's brother was so emotional at that moment, he stepped forward to the bags and completely upzipped them. The blood in the bag poured out and the whole corpse emerged. The body was hollow inside, even the eyeballs were gone. Probably somebody wanted the corneas. Chen's brother almost wanted to scream. I stopped him. It was very dangerous, since he would get killed in that way.

So, I had to apologize to the guards that he was so emotional after he saw so much blood. Later, I also had to talk to the people in charge, asking them to forgive him since he was related to the victim.

Nowadays, the organ harvest business is out of control in China. People do it for money, for the research achievements. They don't care about people's lives, including the Falun Gong practitioners. They utilized all the organs awailable. And nobody inside China dares to expose such a huge crime. Who dares? The media? Impossible. Only the people outside China, only the media outside China can do it. Even if you witnessed the crime, in China, you dare not expose it.

Therefore, this kind of crime actually has become a rampant business now. All the hospitals were trying to make deals with the courts and police departments, so that they could get a quota on this business. The Department of Public Health received budgets for this organ business from the Department of Treasury, so that they could get some useful organs.

Every year in October, the Communist party would launch a campaign to "harshly punish criminals". This means killing more people. By killing more people, it could have more organs. So every year on this period, the Department of Public Health would allocate some money to those big hospitals for organ transplants. Therefore, there were usually a lot of transplant surgeries during this period because more executions were carried out. There were some foreign investments on this business as well, because this business has such a high profit. Even the police system made a lot of money from it. The head of our local police department, Liu Zhigeng, said it very clearly that the police would be rewarded 30,000 RMB for killing one criminal. How could the policemen not work hard to make money from it?

From their perspective, killing the criminals shows that the police were fulfilling their duty to punish the criminals and improve social stability. As for whether the persons were genuine criminals or not, nobody really cares. No to mention, the TV media reports could also be controlled.

Therefore, the hospitals need to cooperate with the police. If they want more organs, then the police would kill more people.

This is supported by the funding allocated by the government. Once you can earn money from it, people would do it. In the government paperwork, it does not have to state clearly that you need to get more organs. They would only need to say that funding would be allocated for organ study.

Well, how do you do perform organ transplant study without a supply of organs?

So, they called for joint meetings with different departments. The police chief would say that recently the crime rate increased in the city. The police need to work harder then. Therefore, the Department of Treasury would have to allocate some money to the police department. So, the police needed to kill more people. Their job is to kill. You got all the heads from different departments to support it, the Department of Treasury, the judicial systems, the Department of Public Health, the police system, etc. And the city leaders might also be involved. They gave the green light for all related works. You could do whatever you want. See, this is how the Communist party runs this operation. The police would feel happy that they could earn 30,000 RMB for killing one person. If I don't do it, jobs could be lost.

So, the key issue is that there should be someone in the Central Communist Party to give approval for this operation. If this organ transplant study could be achieved with high results, China could become famous for its transplant technology. Then, many people from overseas would come to China for organ transplants.

Therefore, in the past few years, China's organ transplant technology is pretty advanced. Because there is ample supply of organs, the researchers could do studies again and again, and after repeated failures. This would be impossible in other countries, because the doctors would be sued if one surgery failed. Well, in China, where could you sue such cases? Every department knows very clearly what the nature of the business is. If you file law suits, you yourself might end up as a victim. This is China, under the Communist dictatorship. In the past, people said that Chairman Mao is even more a kin than your parents. That is to say, in China, the Communist party is beyond everything. If it asked you to die, you have to die. The Communist party is very evil. Their members could kill their parents just for the so-called Communist Revolution.

A Summary Report Covering John Nania, Peter, Annie, Veteran Military Doctor, Wenyi Wang

A Summary Report Covering John Nania, Peter, Annie, Veteran Military Doctor, and Wenyi Wang (audio)

Dr. Wenyi Wang is scheduled to appear in federal court on May 18th to face charges of intimidating, coercing, threatening or harassing a foreign official, a charge that carries a possible sentence of up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine. Dr. Wang was the Epoch Times reporter who called out at the White House during the April 20th meeting between President Bush and China's President Hu Jintao, asking that China stop the persecution and killing of Falun Gong practitioners.
Here's a look at the series of events which led to her arrest.

According to Dr. Wang, it began with a report published by the Epoch Times on March 9th of a secret concentration camp in northeast China, known as Sujiatun, where over 6,000 of imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners were used as unwitting donors for transplantation by a method known as "organ harvesting" in which their organs were surgically removed.

John Nania, editor-in-chief for ET, recently spoke with SOH Radio about how they broke the news.

Since these revelations, 2 more eyewitnesses stepped forward to confirm the story.

In a letter published by the ET on March 31st, the 3rd eyewitness writes:

(the transcript here was copied from the ET article featuring this letter)

"Dr. Wang, a pathologist with experience in organ transplantation research is, herself, a Falun Gong practitioner, and recently spoke at a press conference about her involvement with the ET story."

Doctors Confirmed That Organs Extracting From Live Falun Gong Practitioners Is True

Doctors Confirmed That Organs Extracting From Live Falun Gong Practitioners Is True(audio)

Doctors in China Working Overtime on Organ Transplants
By Tang Mei
Sound of Hope Radio Station
Clearwisdom.net issued an urgent announcement on April 6, 2006 in which it says, "Falun Gong practitioners in underground concentration camps, including Sujiatun Camp, have been secretly relocated and are subject to slaughter at any time. Meanwhile some hospitals in China have suddenly increased the number of transplant operations. Apparently a massacre with the purpose of exterminating all witnesses of such extermination camps is taking place right now in China."
Reporters from Sound of Hope Radio made phone calls to major hospitals in China with a human organ transplant department in order to assess the current situation. Most of the medical doctors that answered the phone gave the same guarantee --- there will be an unusually large number of organ donors before May 1. After that date, the chance for a donor will become much smaller.
I made phone calls to organ transplant centers in Hubei Province, Shanghai, Liaoning Province, Beijing, Shanxi Province and many other regions and got about the same answer from medical doctors (MD) --- grasp the opportunity right now.
Doctor A: April. We should have a lot of organs before the end of April. We are getting a larger and larger supply of organs, but you have to grasp the opportunity. Do you know what I mean? After this period of time, the supply will become very slim. After the end of April, there will be a period we will have nothing. We just won't have any supply of organs. If you don't have an organ transplant now while there is a supply, you are leading yourself to a dead end when the supply disappears.
Doctor B: You will have to get it done by May 1. This week and next week. After May 1, we will have very few organs.
Doctor C: If you want to come have an organ transplant, you must try to come before May.
Doctor D: All of our donors are in their 20's and 30's. They are very healthy. We guarantee livers and kidneys from living human beings. We can provide a whole liver. For some blood type, we can find matching donors right away.
Doctor E: Normally they are in their 20's and 30's. I can guarantee they are very healthy and the organs are fresh.
Reporter: Can I get a whole liver?
Doctor E: A whole liver. A whole liver.
Reporter: I heard some of the donors are young and healthy people in their 20's and 30's.
Doctor F: Yes. That's right.
Doctor G: We should be able to find an organ (with HLA tissue match) from a donor of AB blood type. In fact, we should be able to find one very quickly.
Reporter: Do you mean kidneys from living people?
Doctor H: Yes. We also supply livers from living people.
Reporter: Livers from living people?
Doctor H: Yes! Yes!
Reporter: I heard you can supply organs from young, healthy people in their 20's and 30's?
Doctor I: Yes! Yes!
Reporter: I heard they will be harvested from living human beings.
Doctor I: Yes! Yes! Yes!
Reporter: Some labor camps imprison Falun Gong practitioners and then harvest their organs when they are alive?
Doctor I: [Sneering] Right.
The number of patients at the organ transplant centers in China suddenly surged. Major hospitals in China are now working overtime for organ transplant operations.
Doctor J: There are 30 patients right now waiting in line for organ transplant operations.
Reporter: Are you all working overtime for organ transplant operations?
Doctor K: Yes. Yes. Yes. We have several organ transplant teams here working around the clock. We have a total of four teams that can perform organ transplants.
Reporter: Are you doing a lot of organ transplants lately?
Doctor L: Well…that's that.
Several hospitals admitted that they started to do organ transplants since the end of 2000 and that they have performed about 100 ~200 organ transplant operations each year.
Doctor M: We started organ transplants at the end of 2000.
Doctor N: It has been five years since we started organ transplant surgeries.
According to the official statistics of the Chinese Communist regime, there were only 78 liver transplant surgeries in China in eight years between 1991 and 1998. Since the Chinese Communist regime started to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, the number of liver transplants doubled and tripled in number. China has become the country with the largest number of liver transplants in the world. The number of liver transplants in China in 1999, 2000 and 2001 was 118, 254 and 486, respectively. In 2002, the number increased to 996. In 2003, the number of liver transplants in China jumped to over 3000. The statistics clearly show that the number of human organ donors suddenly has increased rapidly since 1999. We are using liver transplant as an example because each human being has only one liver. A human being will not survive once his liver is removed.
Doctor O: In China, we get our supply of human organs from the same place. How do I explain it to you? Only we doctors know where the organs are from.
Since Sujiatun Concentration Camp was exposed to the world, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG)immediately started an investigation all over China. Their investigation revealed that there are at least eight provinces and cities in China that harvest internal organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, including Henan Province, Shandong Province, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning Province and Hubei Province. Employees and surgeons in hospitals of these areas guaranteed the investigators they could supply Falun Gong practitioners' internal organs.

Twenty Organ Transplants Free of Charge
"Twenty Organ Transplants Free of Charge," at the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, read the April 28 edition of the Hunan Xiaoxiang Morning Herald. The advertisement was for a special hospital promotion giving away 20 free liver or kidney transplants. Patients were instructed to call the paper's hotline to register. The hospital also advertised its promotion in other media, including the Changsha Evening Post and Hunan Economics TV Station.
According to reports from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), Hunan is one of the Chinese provinces where the persecution of Falun Gong is most severe. In view of recent reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners detained in labor camps, this promotion for free organ transplants raises concerns regarding the source of the organs.
The source from China who provided this information said, "My heart sank after reading this report. It is justifiable for a hospital to provide patients with medical treatment. This is very disturbing in light of media reports exposing the harvesting of organs from live Falun Gong practitioners at the Sujiatun Death Camp. The communist regime is hastily destroying all evidence and sources said that many hospitals are rushing to use up these organs harvested from Falun Gong practitioners before June. It is not a coincidence that a report promoting free organs was published at this time. This is very suspicious, is this a part of the evil scheme?
Based on statistics published on the WOIPFG website, there are five large forced labor camps and prisons near Changsha City, where thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are detained: The Xinkaipu Men's Labor Camp in Changsha City, Changsha City Women's Labor Camp, Hunan Provincial Women's Prison (Changsha), Zhuzhou Baimalong Labor Camp and Hunan Province Chishan Men's Prison.
Considering the sheer numbers of transplants, that whole organs are used, the proximity of the labor camps and the recent reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in labor camps, it seems clear that an investigation should be initiated into the source of the "free" organs.

Australian Surgeons Condemn "Horrific" Organ Trade

Australian transplant surgeons have confirmed that organs from executed prisoners are used for transplants in China and have publicly condemned the practice.
Several surgeons from the heart, lung, liver and kidney transplant units in Brisbane told The Epoch Times , it was common knowledge that there was virtually no waiting list in China because organs came from prisoners on death row.
Spokesperson for The Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ), Professor Peter Macdonald, said their members were unreservedly "against the use of organs and tissues from executed prisoners for the purposes of therapeutic transplantation".
The statement from TSANZ is in line with the British and International Transplantation Societies, who recently issued public statements condemning the Chinese organ trade.
To read more about these stories, visit English.epochtimes.com. Parmly, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor
Hearing Before the Subcommittee on International Operations and Human Rights, House International Relations
Washington, DC
June 27, 2001

Chairwoman Ros-Lehtinen and Members of the Committee, thank you for the opportunity to appear at this important hearing to address the issue of the sale of human organs in China. The removal of organs from executed prisoners without proper permission from family members along with the trafficking in these organs is a serious, deeply disturbing subject that raises a number of profoundly important human rights issues. The State Department welcomes the opportunity to update the committee on our assessment of the problem and what the Department is doing to encourage China to put an end to this abhorrent practice.

As you know, reports of Chinese authorities removing organs from executed prisoners in China, without the consent of the prisoners or their families, are not new. The Hong Kong and London press carried the numerous reports as early as the mid-1980s, when the introduction of the drug Cyclosoporine-A made transplants a newly viable option for patients.

Our concern about such practices is also not new. We repeatedly raised this issue with high-level Chinese officials throughout the 1990s, pressing for changes in Chinese policy and practice, and urging changes in China’s legal and medical systems to ensure the protection of individual rights and the guarantee of due process. We have also covered the issue of organ harvesting in our annual human rights report on China to put the spotlight of international attention on this issue. We consider organ harvesting from executed prisoners, without permission from family members, to be an egregious human rights abuse that violates not only international human rights law, but also international medical ethical standards.

Unfortunately, despite our efforts, as well as those of human rights activists like Harry Wu, human rights organizations, and concerned medical professionals, the practice of harvesting organs from executed prisoners continues in China. The lack of transparency in the Chinese criminal justice system, the secrecy that surrounds prison executions, and the removal of organs make actual documentation of the practice impossible. However, the anecdotal and circumstantial evidence regarding the practice of removing organs from executed prisoners for sale to foreigners and wealthy Chinese is substantial, credible, and growing. It cannot be ignored. Credible sources include public statements by patients who have had transplants in China, doctors who have provided post-transplant care to these patients in the United States and elsewhere, and testimony by Chinese doctors and former officials who claim to have witnessed or taken part in such practices or to have seen incriminating evidence.

In the past, according to available evidence, the majority of patients receiving transplants in China came from other parts of Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. A leading kidney specialist in Malaysia has estimated that over 1000 Malaysians alone have had kidney transplants in China. More recently, deeply troubling reports of Americans receiving transplants in China have been made public. American doctors, including Dr. Thomas Diflo, who will be testifying in a later panel, have reported seeing transplant patients from China in need of follow-up care. These patients have stated that they were informed by hospital personnel in China that the organs that they received came from executed prisoners.

The Department of State is also aware of reports that it cannot independently confirm, of other, even more egregious practices, such as removing organs from still-living prisoners, and scheduling executions to accommodate the need for particular organs. In addition, there are compelling first-hand reports that doctors, in violation of medical ethics codes, have performed medical procedures to prepare condemned prisoners for execution and organ removal. As former Assistant Secretary John Shattuck testified before this committee in 1998, our concern about the abhorrent practice of removing organs from executed prisoners without consent is compounded by our concerns about the lack of due process. According to Amnesty International there were 1,263 confirmed executions in 1999; according to another report 800 prisoners were executed in May 2001 alone as the government conducted another "strike hard" campaign against crime. A high court nominally reviews all death sentences, but as our Country Report on Human Rights Practices points out, and as a recent New York Times article graphically described, the time between arrest and execution is often days or even hours. Some prisoners are taken directly from the courtroom to the execution grounds. Appeals of sentences consistently result in confirmation of sentence.

The lack of meaningful consent further compounds our concerns about this practice. According to Article 3 of China’s Provisional Regulations on the Use of Executed Prisoners’ Corpses or Organs (1984), a corpse may be used for medical purposes if nobody claims the body or the family refuses to bury it; the prisoner voluntarily donates the body for use by medical facilities; or the inmate’s family consents to its use after death. The first category opens the door to abuse because families are often not notified of impending executions or are too far away or unable financially to make the trip to claim a relative’s body. Also, bodies are routinely cremated immediately after a sentence is carried out, making it impossible even for those families who are able to claim a family member’s remains to determine whether or not the body has been used for medical purposes.

Many have expressed the view that condemned prisoners and their families cannot make free and fully-voluntary decisions on organ donations because of the very nature of incarceration. In the United States, Federal Bureau of Prisons regulations do not allow organ donation by federal prisoners, unless the donation is to an immediate family member. Other countries have similarly strict laws and regulations regarding organ donations by prisoners.

Recent reports indicate that the phenomenon of organ trafficking has expanded beyond trafficking in the organs of executed prisoners. Our posts have reported increased numbers of Chinese media reports of organ harvesting from hospital cadavers by corrupt medical and hospital personnel, and the sale of organs by poor people for cash. This trade in human organs takes place openly, including on the Internet. Chinese web bulletin boards have reports of organs for sale and discussion of corruption in the "organ business." We are monitoring this trade closely and are raising our concerns with the Chinese government.

The lack of due process and consent, coupled with credible evidence of harvesting organs from executed prisoners and from hospital cadavers, raises serious human rights concerns. We, like Congress, are committed to press the Chinese authorities to take strong action to address human rights abuses wherever they occur. Despite the lack of transparency in China's legal system, we are making every effort to determine the magnitude of the problem and how effectively Chinese authorities have implemented Article 3 of China’s Provisional Regulations on the Use of Executed Prisoners’ Corpses or Organs (1984) and other pertinent regulations governing the practice of organ donations, sale and transplants. We are also pressing the Chinese to enact and implement legislation or regulations that prohibit removing organs from executed prisoners. In the weeks and months ahead, we will step up our efforts to work with countries in the region, with allies, and other like-minded countries to put an end to organ trafficking. And, finally, we are committed to investigating and prosecuting to the fullest extent of our own law any criminal acts over which the United States has jurisdiction. While we will continue to press the Chinese on this issue, we recognize the enormous challenge we face. The complex social issues in China involving severe rural poverty, along with corruption among poorly paid prison and hospital administrators who harvest organs from prisoners and patients without their consent, play a large role in this issue.

During the course of the 1990s, in response to repeated inquiries and demarches by the State Department, our ambassadors to China and other Embassy and State Department officials, the Chinese have provided information on their official policy, including two documents on regulations promulgated on April 6, 1996, governing organ donation. The regulations provide that "the buying or selling of human tissues and organs is not allowed. The donation or exchange of human tissue and organs with organizations or individuals outside national borders is not allowed." However, the Chinese have not responded to our inquiries about the extent and scope of harvesting and trafficking in human organs and about Chinese authorities’ efforts to implement their own regulations.

We most recently discussed the issue of organ harvesting in Washington with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) International Organization Director and senior Chinese Embassy officials on June 26. I participated in the meeting and specifically mentioned that I would be testifying before this committee today and would have to say that the United States was appalled by the number of highly credible reports coming out of China about the removal of organs from executed prisoners and about trafficking in those organs. I noted that enforcement of Chinese regulations governing organ donations appeared to be woefully inadequate. Our interlocutors responded that such practices are illegal in China and that those who are found to engage in such practices are brought to justice. I responded by asking that Chinese authorities provide us with evidence of such prosecutions. We also raised the issue on June 14 in Beijing with the MFA Human Rights Division Director and here in Washington with the Chinese Embassy. We informed Chinese Embassy officials of the increased level of attention being focused on this issue in the United States and urged China to work intensively to ensure that its organ transplant policies are consistent with international standards. We also urged China to take steps to combat the actions of those who engage in such unconscionable acts, pointing out that they are a perversion of medical ethics and state power as well as an egregious human rights violation.

Assistant Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong was in Washington last week and we communicated to him the strong bipartisan support that the issue of human rights has in the United States. In the months ahead, we will continue to make clear our strong opposition to the repugnant practice of coercive organ harvesting and will press the Government of China to ensure its organ transplant policies and practices are in compliance with international human rights norms as well as international medical practices. We will urge them to enforce all regulations governing organ transplants, to prosecute those who violate existing regulations, and to pass and implement new legislation. We also will share the testimonies delivered here today with our Embassy in China and instruct our Embassy to raise the allegations made in them with the appropriate officials in China. They will be asking Chinese authorities for evidence that those who engage in the practices discussed here today are brought to justice. In the United States we will investigate and prosecute all violators over whom the United States has jurisdiction to the fullest extent of the law.

Thank you.

Released on June 27, 2001

Updates | Frequent Questions | Contact Us | Email this Page | Subject Index | Search
The Office of Electronic Information, Bureau of Public Affairs, manages this site as a portal for information from the U.S. State Department. The major source of human organs comes from voluntary donations from Chinese citizens," she said.

COUNTRY PROFILE
At a glance: China

Provided by CountryWatch.com

CNN.com Asia
More news from our
Asia edition

Chinese officials say organs are only transplanted from executed convicts with consent.

China executes more prisoners each year than any other nation. According to reports from the human rights group Amnesty International, China executed more than 1,000 people last year alone.

Wang's testimony is not the first time such an allegation has been made, but his testimony is considered rare because it offers an eyewitness account from someone who claims to have been directly involved in the practice.

A state department official in Washington told CNN the White House has expressed its concerns to China over reports of the practice.

Tortured conscience
Wang told the U.S. House of representatives Subcommittee on Human Rights he had also worked at a crematorium, carving skin off convicts bodies for use on burns victims.

Corneas and other body tissue were also removed for transplant, Wang said.

His hospital, the Tianjin Paramilitary Police General Brigade Hospital, then sold the body parts for profit.

Speaking before the subcommittee, Wang described the procedures, saying that often group executions were organized to facilitate the demand for organ transplants.

"It is with deep regret and remorse that I stand here today testifying against the practices of organ and tissue sales from death row prisoners," he said.

"My work required me to remove the skin and corneas from the corpses of over one hundred prisoners, and on a couple of occasions, victims of intentionally botched executions."

Wang said that prisoners were given blood tests to determine their compatibility with donor seekers.

He said his conscience was tortured after an incident in October 1995 when he was ordered to remove skin from a prisoner still alive.

The prisoner -- sentenced to death for robbery and murder -- was administered an anti-blood clotting agent and then shot.

Wang said the prisoner did not die immediately and was taken into the back of an ambulance where urologists removed his kidneys.

Wang and other surgeons then harvested the prisoner's skin before putting the body -- still not dead -- in a plastic bag then into a truck.

Shortly after that incident Wang said he had requested a transfer within the hospital before entering the U.S. with a fake passport, aiming to alert the international community to the practice.

While living in the U.S., Wang made contact with Chinese-American human rights activist Harry Wu -- himself once imprisoned in China.

Wu heads the Laogai foundation, a non-profit organization campaigning against the collection of organs from Chinese Prisoners.

'Only in China'
According to Wu, Chinese government documents show Beijing is actively helping military hospitals make money selling the skin, corneas, kidneys and livers of executed prisoners.

"This human rights violation is very unique. It does not happen in any other country, only in China," Reuters quoted Wu saying.

Wu said patients outside of China who are willing to pay for the organs are helping to drive a growing trade.

Sometimes the money comes from Americans, he said, with a kidney for a foreign patient probably costing around $30,000.

According to an unwritten policy, he said, priority recipients of organs were high-ranking officials, wealthy overseas Chinese and other foreigners.

Human rights activists say China isn't the only guilty party and the business of organs for sale happens elsewhere.

But they say the practice of removing organs without consent from the prisoner or relatives was an abhorrent human rights violation.

Evidence 'overwhelming'
"Congress cannot allow this horrific situation to go unchallenged," said U.S. Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who heads the panel that held Wednesday's hearing.

While some Congress members were skeptical whether Wang's allegations were true, Michael Parmly of the U.S. State Department's human rights bureau said the evidence was "overwhelming and growing".

"[The] sources who have reported this are credible and numerous," he said.

Ros-Lehtinen and other members of congress have introduced a resolution to prohibit visas for any Chinese physician seeking transplant related training in the United States.

She said the bill would send a strong human rights message to Chinese doctors.

"It tells the Chinese doctors that they better be careful, their visas will not be automatically stamped for approval," she said.

RELATED STORY:
• China's 'Strike Hard' yields guns and explosives
June 12, 2001

RELATED SITES:
• Amnesty International
• U.S. Committee on International Relations

Note: Pages will open in a new browser window
External sites are not endorsed by CNN Interactive.

WORLD TOP STORIES:
• Blix: 'Iraq could do more'
• N. Smith The New York Times

An increasing number of Americans are traveling to China to receive transplanted kidneys, livers, corneas and other body parts from executed Chinese prisoners.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 8 Three years ago, in New York, one of Dr. Thomas Diflo's patients on a long waiting list for a kidney transplant showed up with a new problem: she no longer needed a kidney, but suddenly needed after-transplant care.

"She had just returned from a trip to China and, to my surprise, had undergone a transplant while she was there," said Dr. Diflo, of New York University Medical Center, where he is director of kidney transplants.

The woman, a Chinese-American, was vague about where the kidney had come from, but others who have come to Dr. Diflo for treatment have been more forthcoming, confiding that they got the organs of executed Chinese prisoners.

Kidneys, livers, corneas and other body parts from these prisoners are being transplanted into American citizens or permanent residents who otherwise would have to wait years for organs. Many of the patients come back to the United States for follow-up care, which Medicaid or other government programs pay for.

The transplants in China, which doctors in both countries say are increasing, has presented the American medical establishment with an ethical quandary: Should American doctors treat patients who have received organs from executed prisoners and, if so, would they be tacitly condoning the practice and encouraging more such transplants.

Or should they rebuke patients who, in desperation, participate in a process that mainstream transplant advocates condemn as morally wrong?

"That's a decision that has to be made by each individual physician," said Dr. Thomas McCune, a transplant physician in Norfolk, Va., and chairman of the patient care and education committee of the American Society of Transplantation.

Executed prisoners are China's primary source of transplantable organs, though few of the condemned, if any, consent to having their organs removed, people involved with the process say. Some of the unwitting donors may even be innocent, having been executed as part of a surge of executions propelled by accelerated trials and confessions that sometimes were extracted through torture.

The American transplantation society says that decisions to donate organs must be made freely and without coercion or exploitation of any sort. It opposes any organ donations by prisoners, even to their relatives, because the circumstances of incarceration make it impossible to ensure that the decision is not colored by secondary benefits, like an improved diet, that a prisoner may stand to gain. Donations from death row inmates are even more suspect.

Various initiatives are under way to protest the harvesting of organs from China's prisoners. One bill would bar entry to the United States of any doctors from China who want American transplant training. Chinese transplant specialists now travel freely to the United States to take part in seminars and other activities that help hone their skills.

But American doctors say there is little they can do to stop the flow of prisoner organs to the United States because the Chinese supply is growing just like the American demand.

More transplantable organs are available in China because more people are being executed. This year, 5,000 prisoners or more are likely to be put to death during a nationwide anti-crime drive. Many of them will be stripped of their vital organs, though there is no available data to say how many. Government policy allows the harvesting if the prisoner or the prisoner's family has given written consent, or if the body is not claimed after execution. In practice, though, the rules are often ignored and illegal harvesting tolerated.

Meanwhile, China has made great strides in transplant techniques, having performed 35,000 kidney transplants since its first successful one in 1961. As a result, transplant centers have opened around the country, some with special wards catering to high-paying foreign patients.

Most of the organs are transplanted into Chinese citizens, but a growing number are going into foreigners, particularly Southeast Asians, Japanese and Americans, who would otherwise face years of illness or the risk of death if they were to wait for transplants in their home countries.

Hospitals welcome foreign patients because they pay as much as 10 times the price local patients pay for the same operation. For an American patient, the Chinese charges are somewhat below the comparative cost in the United States.

It is hard to say how many Americans are receiving such organs each year. Anecdotal evidence in both countries suggests the number is small but growing and cuts across various regions. I think this is pretty widespread," said Dr. Diflo. "You'll see it anywhere you have an Asian community."

All five hospitals that do kidney transplants in Shanghai say they treat foreign patients.

"There was one from America in July or August," a nurse in the urology department at Changhai Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai Second Military Medical University, recalled this week. The doctor who performed the transplant said the patient, a woman, recently returned home to California.

More than 78,350 Americans are awaiting organ transplants, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing, a nonprofit group that matches donors to transplant patients in the United States. Among them, about 50,000 need a kidney and that number is expected to double within the decade.

Most of those people must endure years of dialysis, spending three hours three times a week at a clinic or hospital where needles are inserted into an arm or leg to drain their blood, clean it and return it to the body.

The periodic buildup of toxins in the blood and the stress of dialysis is debilitating over time. Between 5 percent and 10 percent of people undergoing dialysis die each year.

With the wait for a kidney transplant stretching to six years or more in parts of the United States, it is little wonder that patients with the necessary money and contacts opt for an ethically questionable transplant.

China is not alone in using prisoner organs to meet the demand for transplants. Taiwan also harvests organs from executed prisoners, albeit with strict consent requirements, as do some South American countries. The idea has even gained currency with some people in the United States. Last year, a state lawmaker in Florida introduced a bill that would facilitate the transplant of organs from death row inmates after execution. The bill, which did spark some debate, is unlikely ever to become law.

Doctors are divided about whether to treat patients with transplanted organs from executed prisoners.

Dr. Stephen Tomlanovich, a kidney transplant specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, has several patients who traveled to Shanghai or Guangzhou to receive kidneys that he suspects came from executed prisoners. The patients involved told him that they were not certain of their organs' origins and Dr. Tomlanovich accepted that.

But if presented with a clear case in which an organ came from an executed prisoner, he says he would probably decline to treat the patient.

"I guess I would explain that it makes me uncomfortable and might affect my care," he said by telephone from San Francisco. "I would attempt to find the patient care within some other medical system."

After Dr. Diflo was asked to monitor the level of medication taken by patients who conceded that they had been given organs from executed prisoners, he went to his hospital's ethics board to discuss his misgivings. The board supported his decision to continue treating the patients.

"Certainly what they've done from my point of view is ethically and morally wrong," Dr. Diflo said this week. "But they're in need of medical care and we can't punish them."

Back To Top | EPM Home Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Permissions: Feel free to reproduce and distribute any articles written by Randy Alcorn, in part or in whole, in any format, provided that you do not alter the wording in any way or charge a fee beyond the cost of reproduction. One doctor confirmed the extraction of organs from Falun Gong practitioners while they were alive.
The Clearwisdom.net issued an urgent announcement on April 6, 2006 which states : "Falun Gong practitioners in underground concentration camps, including Sujiatun Camp, have been secretly relocated and are subject to slaughter at any time. Meanwhile some hospitals in China have suddenly increased the number of transplant operations. There is a massacre apparently taking place right now aimed at exterminating all the witnesses of such extermination camps in China."
Reporter Ms. Mei Tang from SOH called organ transplant centers in Hubei Province, Shanghai, Liaoning Province, Beijing, Shanxi Province and many other regions and received similar answers from doctors (MD). The following are excerpts from phone conversations.
Doctor S from Changzheng Hospital in Shanghai: "April. We should have a substantial number of organs before the end of April. We are receiving them more and more frequently, but you have to grasp the opportunity. Do you understand what I mean? After this period of time has passed, the supply will diminish significantly to the point where we will be left with nothing. If you don't have an organ transplant when there is supply, you are leading yourself to a dead end when the supply runs out."
Doctor W, from the Organ Transplant Center in the No.2 Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in Liaoning province : "You will have to get it done by May 1. This week and next week! After May 1, we will have very few organs left."
Doctor W from an affiliated hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University in Shan'xi province: "If you want to have an organ transplant, you must try to come before May".
The doctors have confirmed that all donors are in their 20's and 30's. They are very healthy. They guarantee livers and kidneys from living human beings. They can provide a whole liver. For some blood types, they can find matching donors right away.
Doctor W from Dalian also stated: ¡®¡¯Normally they are in their 20's and 30's. I can guarantee they are very healthy and the organs are fresh¡¯¡¯.
Reporter: "Can I receive a whole liver?"
Doctor W from Dalian: "A whole liver. A whole liver."
Reporter: "I heard some of the donors are young and healthy people in their 20's and 30's."
Doctor W from Dalian: "Yes! That's right."
Doctor W from Dalian: "We should be able to find an organ (with an HLA tissue match) from a donor of AB blood type. In fact, we should be able to find one very quickly."
Reporter: "Do you mean kidneys from living people?"
Doctor W from Xi'an: "Yes. We also supply livers from living people!"
Reporter: "Livers from living people? "
Doctor W from Xi'an: "Yes, Yes."
Reporter: "I heard you can supply organs from young, healthy people in their 20's and 30's?"
Doctor W from Xi'an: "Yes,Yes."
Reporter: "I heard that they will be extracted from living human beings."
Doctor W from Xi'an: "Yes, Yes,Yes."
Reporter: "Some labor camps imprison Falun Gong practitioners and then harvest their organs when they are alive? "
Doctor W from Xi'an: "(Sneering) Right!"
The number of patients at organ transplant centers in China has suddenly surged. Major hospitals in China are now working overtime for organ transplant operations.
Doctor W from Dalian: "There are 30 patients right now waiting in line for organ transplant operations."

Doctor S from Shanghai: ¡°There are already a number of patients waiting¡¡±
Reporter: "Are you all working overtime for organ transplant operations? "
Doctor S: "Yes,Yes,Yes. We have several organ transplant teams here working around the clock. We have a total of four teams that can perform organ transplants."
Reporter: "Have you been doing a lot of organ transplants lately? "
Doctor from Tongji Hospital in Wuhan City in Hubei province: "Well...that's right."
Several hospitals admit that they began to carry out organ transplants at the end of 2000 performing about 100-200 organ transplant operations each year.
Doctor W from Xi'an: "We started organ transplants at the end of 2000!"
Doctor Liming Wang from Dalian: "It has been five years since we commenced organ transplants."
According to the official statistics of the Chinese Communist government, there were only 78 liver transplants in China between 1991 and 1998. Since the official persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, the number of liver transplants has doubled and even tripled. China has become the country with the largest number of liver transplants in the world. The number of liver transplants in China in 1999, 2000 and 2001 was 118, 254 and 486, respectively. This represented a total aggregate of 936 cases. By the end of 2003, the number of liver transplants in China had jumped to over 3000. The statistics clearly indicate that the number of human organ donors has increased rapidly since 1999. The liver transplant is used as an example here because each human being has only one liver. A human being will not survive once his liver is removed.
Doctor S from Shanghai: "In China, we receive our supply of human organs from the same coordinated source. How do I explain it to you? Only we doctors know where the organs are from."
When Sujiatun Concentration Camp in Liaoning province was first exposed, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) immediately launched an investigation throughout China. This investigation revealed that there are at least eight provinces and cities in China that harvest internal organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, including Henan Province, Shandong Province, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning Province and Hubei Province. Employees and surgeons of hospitals in these areas have admitted when answering calls from our investigators that there is a constant supply of Falun Gong practitioners' internal organs. According to a recent witness, a senior military doctor, there are 36 concentration camps in China where human organs are systematically removed and Falun Gong practitioners killed.
On April 12, 2006, the Communist government denied claims that Falun Gong practitioners were the victims of illegal organ extractions in the basement of the Liaoning Thrombosis Treatment Center in Sujiatan concentration camp. However, this denial was issued about 4 weeks after initial testimony from witnesses. The Chinese authorities have made no mention of other concentration camps, focusing exclusively on Sujiatun.
"Was it so long ago that this regime hid SARS from the world with similar statements of denial, falsified reports and outright lies? If the Chinese regime is serious about investigating these matters," Mr. Erping Zhang, the spokesman from Falun Gong Association, said, "it must open the doors of every concentration and forced labor camp throughout the country, and allow in any and all investigative teams... not at specified locations and specified times, but anywhere and anytime."
SOH has requested an independent third party investigation, eliciting no response. To this day, no third party investigation has been granted by the Communist government in China.
On Capitol Hill, congressmen have signed a dear-colleague letter urging President Bush to demand the release of Mr. Yang Jianli, a political dissident incarcerated in China. Another dear-colleague letter requests the president to seek an explanation from China's president Hu Jintao and a full third party investigation into concentration camps across China which persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
Thank you for listening to SOH radio Focus, reported by Hong and Frank.

Organ Harvesting In China Abusing Its Judiciary Systems

Organ Harvesting In China Abusing Its Judiciary Systems (audio)

It's actually one special report, comprised of two stories.
However, I only have the script for the second story (see below):

The Epoch Times Responds to Communist Regime's Denials of Organ Harvesting

In a press conference in Beijing on April 12, 2006, Zhang Yuqin, the deputy
director of the Liaoning Thrombosis Treatment Center, claimed that
his hospital is considering suing The Epoch Times. The Epoch Times
reported that it was tipped off by three brave individuals who risked
their lives in order to tell the truth, and had reported the
harvesting of the organs from thousands of living Falun Gong
practitioners at Zhang's hospital and associated hospitals in the
Sujiatun district of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.

Subsequent investigations have corroborated the statements of these witnesses.

The Epoch Times stated, "we first reported this horror on March 9.
More than a month later the Chinese Communist regime chose to
respond. Why the wait? We have reports from Sujiatun that the time
was spent executing or shipping out the Falun Gong practitioners
still held there and creating a cover-up. If the media travel to
Sujiatun, they will find a Potemkin Village, ready for inspection.
The Chinese Health Ministry lied about SARS. The Chinese Communist
regime still claims no one was killed in the Tiananmen Square
massacre. Now the Chinese regime has decided to lie about the organ
harvesting factories it has set up around China. We stand by our
original stories and are eager to see a full, independent
investigation into the organ harvesting from live Falun Gong
practitioners and other prisoners that is continuing to take place in
labor camps and prisons throughout China. Such an investigation could
begin by looking at the role played by the China International
Transplantation Network Assistance Center (or CITNAC) based in
Shenyang City."

Curiously, this Center’s website, which mysteriously stopped working
immediately after the Sujiatun story first broke, advertised in five
languages that a liver transplant could be available within one
month, and a kidney transplant would be available within one week.
The maximum times for such transplants were said to be, respectively,
two months and one month. Outside China, individuals often have to
wait years for a matching kidney or liver to come available.

An article in the China Business Daily quotes Dr. Wu Gang, an
associate professor in the Organ Transplant Department of a Shenyang
City hospital as saying, "The kidney supply in Shenyang is
sufficient. Those kidney ads from individuals trying to sell their
own kidney almost have no market."

Also notable are the statistics regarding liver
transplants published by the "Health Newspaper," a periodical
affiliated with the Ministry of Health.

From 1991-1998, 78 liver transplants were performed in all of China.
In 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong began, and in that same year
the number of liver transplants skyrocketed, to 116 in that year
alone—more than the total for the previous seven years combined. Each
succeeding year the numbers continued to climb, to 254 in 2000, and
486 in 2001. By 2003 the number in one year totaled 3,000.

Where did this flood of healthy organs come from? China has almost no
voluntary donations of organs.

The Epoch Times acknowledged that they are confident—although deeply
saddened—as to the answer to this question: the extraordinary
increase in healthy livers came from Falun Gong practitioners who
were killed in the act of harvesting their organs.

The Epoch Times News Service said, "the lies told in Beijing
yesterday were occasioned by the visit to Washington, D.C. next week
by Hu Jintao, China’s paramount leader. We trust the free press of
this country will demand of Mr. Hu a full account of the organ
harvesting being done in China. We call on our colleagues in the
media to join us in investigating these atrocities. Such an
investigation is demanded by the facts, our duty as journalists, and
our humanity."

To read more about this article, visit english.epochtimes.com

This was Arleen Richards for the Sound of Hope Radio Network

121 Human Skulls With Terror Expression Found In China

121 Human Skulls With Terror Expression Found In China (audio)

121 Human Skulls Found in China
Epoch Times Staff Apr 07, 2006

Skulls found near the southern Tanshanling Town in Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County in Gansu Province. (The Epoch Times)On March 27, police found 121 skulls 1 km away from a highway and 10 km from the southern Tanshanling Town in Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County in Gansu Province. The skulls were found near the boundary of Gansu and Qinghai provinces. The skulls were subsequently sent to College of Life Science at Lanzhou University and identified as human skulls.

Scattered in a Brook

According to Lanzhou's news report, on March 25, a herdsman from Tanshanling discovered the skulls scattered along a brook while he was driving his cows to the Dawankou area, 10 km away from the town. On March 27, the local police reported the case to the Tianzhu County Public Security Bureau.

Mystery surrounds these skulls, and the discovery shocked the police. The police force in Tianzhu rapidly pursued investigation.

On the spot the police revealed six or seven woven bags and flour bags filled with skulls. The open bags were abandoned in the canal at Dawankou.

Expert: Skulls were Human Heads

The local villagers thought the skulls were monkey heads. At 6 p.m. on March 31, the case investigators sent part of the bones to the College of Life Science at Lanzhou University for identification. After observing the specimens, Professor Liu confirmed these were human skulls.

Heads of Men and Women of Various Ages

Professor Liu said, "None of the skulls are monkey heads, but all are human. These skulls are of young and old persons, and male and female. The nose bones of the young ones have not closed up yet and old men's tooth are worn out badly."

A droopy mustache was left on the upper lip of one head. This evidence shows that he was killed after short detention. False teeth [denture] can be found in both upper and bottom jaw of one skull, and the crown is clearly visible and in good shape.

Facial Expressions are of Terror

During investigations, the skulls were noted to have been sawed off from the eyebrows with the edges cut cleanly.

The faces still contained grave expressions that remained even after death. The brows were contracted, mouths were opened widely and some heads had protruding tongues. The investigators determined that the people were slaughtered and did not die of natural causes.

Evidence in Unusual Location

The location where the skulls were found is nowhere near a village and is in a virtually uninhabited area. The skulls could have been thrown from the highway directly. The evidence on the scene indicates it is not where the crime was committed. It is possible the criminals threw away the skulls in a different place to destroy evidence.

Different Skull History

From analyzing the different saw edges in skulls, the case investigators determined they were not killed at the same time. Some of the skulls found were several years old while others were very recently sawed off, which raises the possibility that the slaughtering is still taking place.

Dr. Thomas Diflo - Organ Trafficking For Profit Is Illegal And Morally Reprehensible

Dr. Thomas Diflo - Organ Trafficking For Profit Is Illegal and Morally Reprehensible (audio)

Interviewed with Reporter of New Tang Dynasty TV. Doctors in the department and my classmates all knew this.

One day a patient in our department needed an organ transplant, we were notified by the hospital's medical administration department that a "condemned criminal" with a matching organ would be available the next day. So, led by our teacher, I personally went through an experience that would be hard to forget for the rest of my life.

I used to think that it is not wrong to take organs from a "deserved criminal" to save a life. However my experience that day made me realize the truth behind organ transplants in China and what it really means. One important factor is that when the organ was taken from the prisoner, he was still alive!

The organ extraction and the execution of the prisoner were all conducted in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University. On that day, by the time we got there, officials from the medical administration department and many doctors from other departments, including the ophthalmology department, the general surgery department, the urological department and the department of orthopedics were already there. They seemed to be carefree and quite used to what was going to happen. They were all waiting for the arrival of the "prisoner."

At about 9 to 10 a.m., a few police vehicles drove up. We all went into the inner room where the organ extraction was to take place. The prisoner was executed right in the outer room. Out of curiosity, I peeked through the window separating the two rooms. The prisoner was quite young. Without any special procedure, the prisoner knelt in front of a sand heap piled at a corner of the room, and an equally young police officer took out a gun and shot him in the head.

After hearing the gun shot, the doctors in the inner room rushed outside as if they'd heard a signal and carried the prisoner into the inner room. Others wearing disposable surgery clothes began to bustle about. We were the first to take organs, but I was shocked to discover that during our operation, the prisoner was still alive. The gunshot had not quite hit his brainstem.

During the procedure of the organ extraction, a whistling sound came from his throat! My blood ran cold, but those "doctors" taking the organ turned a deaf ear to it. I cannot express how I felt in words! Doctors are supposed to cure diseases and save people. The medical profession is supposed to be lofty and the morality of doctors is supposed to be noble, but they were actually killing a person in the name of saving another. In the meantime, the police officers, who are supposed to serve the people, were smoking cigarettes outside the room and happily chatting away with the officials from the administrative department.

My brain went numb. The needed organ was taken quickly and skillfully. A group of "doctors" left satisfactorily; then doctors from other departments began to pile on. They busied themselves on the patient's eyes, belly, scrotum, hip joint and so on.

The wheezing sound from the patient's throat gradually faded. In an instant, all the doctors disappeared from the room with only the prisoner's broken body and a person to carry the body remaining. The body was going to be transferred to the crematorium to be cremated immediately. His relatives knew nothing about this whole procedure. I heard that they would be notified only after all was over.

Reading about the exceedingly horrible persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Sujiatun, Shenyang City recently and associating it with my own experience, I keenly realized that in a communist society, the Communist Party has already converted people into its tools and murderers.

Rally Speech - Dr. Morton Skaler - Washington DC - March 27, 2006

Rally Speech - Dr. Morton Skaler (audio)

Dr. Morton Skaler at DC Rally – Sujiatun Death Camp

It was very moving to hear the bells tolling from the church at the end of our moment of silence a few minutes ago. And it reminded me the question that often is asked: for whom the bells tolled. And what we must tell the world is that when genocide takes place the bell tolls for all of us. We are subjected to all those problems, we are all the targets of that problem of genocide, and the entire world recognize that. Liaoning Province.and former Governor of Liaoning Province Bo Xilai had become infamous because the roll it has been played in promoting the campaign of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China. Liaoning Province under Bo Xilai’s leadership and supervision has become a site where some of the worst atrocity in campaign of persecution that has taken place, is the site where the largest number of individuals had been detained arbitrarily and subjected to long term persecution, and is the site of one of the largest and the worst labor, torture death camp in China. As many of you know that Bo Xilai and many other Chinese officials who have been involved in persecution campaign have been subjected to law suit in an effort of holding them accountable of their actions. And we hope that those law suits are having an effect in helping to stop persecution that is taking place. The latest news out of Liaoning Province is even more disturbing concerning the organ harvesting and transplants. In 1995, I was in Mainland China, part of human rights monitoring mission, when the first report about the harvesting human organs for use of transplants was released by Human Rights Watch, it was an effective report that helped to mobilize the international community to deal with this issue. The reports that have the same practice are now taking place in China Lioaning Province not simply against individuals as was the case in 1995 who have been convicted of crimes, but for people who is only offensed has been insisted on being able to exercise their spiritual beliefs and to practice Falun Gong.. In the news head line today, there’s a story about an African man by the name of Rockmon, the United States Government and International Community mobilize their efforts to make certain that Mr. Rockmon would not be trialed and committed to death for the changing of his religion from Islam to Christianity. If the United States Government and International Community can become in sensed and that effective in terms of stopping the persecution of one individual for spiritual persecution why can they not do the same thing for the thousands of individual Falun Gong practitioners who have been subjected to this kind of biases. The International Community that we service representatives involved is pleased to be here and to be working in solidarity with you in trying to end the persecution campaign and especially to end the practice of the un-voluntary human organ harvesting and transplants. We will encourage you to follow the very successful example of Human Rights Watch in 1995 by joining with the human rights organization like Human Rights Watch they are concerning this problems and with Medical and Scientific Communities that should be I think all in sensed about this practice. To join together with them to melt a massive campaign, to bring an attention to these problems and to stop organ transplants and death from taking place. Thank you.

Sujiatun Death Camp Witness - April 2, 2006

Sujiatun Death Camp Witness (audio)

A New Witness Confirms Existence of Chinese Concentration Camp, Says Organs Removed from Live Victims
By Ji Da
The Epoch Times
Mar 17, 2006
The witness, a former employee at the Liaoning Thrombosis Treatment Center of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, and says the bodies of Falun Gong practitioners are cremated immediately after the organs are removed. (The Epoch Times)
A former employee of Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine told The Epoch Times during a recent interview that the Sujiatun Concentration Camp in China was actually a part of a hospital. The concentration camp has engaged in taking organs from Falun Gong practitioners when they were still alive and selling the organs. Since 2001, the concentration camp has secretly detained approximately 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners, none of whom have been able to leave the camp alive. The hospital removed many kidneys, livers, and corneas from the practitioners. After the organ removal, the practitioners were thrown into an incinerator, which was converted from a boiler. Their ashes were dumped together with burned charcoal.
Organs from Three Quarters of the 6,000 People Were Removed
Those whose organs were removed were in various states of health. Because many of the victims were illegally detained, there was neither an arrest warrant nor identification as to who these people actually were. Often after their organs were removed, nobody claimed the bodies. Sometimes their bodies were picked up by crooks who pretended to be their family members.
About three-quarters of the 6,000 people died after their hearts, kidneys, corneas, or skin was removed; their bodies were then burned. This witness, whose family member participated in the removal of Falun Gong practitioners' organs, said that approximately 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners remain in the hospital. She was afraid that the authorities would kill all of them to destroy evidence.
The Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine is located at 49 Xuesong Road, Sujiatun, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. It was the first hospital in China to specialize in the heart, the brain, and surrounding blood vessels. The hospital is composed of several organizations, including the Liaoning Traditional Chinese Medicine College Teaching Hospital and the Shenyang Thrombosis Treatment Center.
Concentration Camp Details
The hospital site is 21,087 square meters, with 17,564 square meters of building area. It employs 460 people in 24 departments and 20 specialized offices. Information from the Chinese government shows that the hospital was established in December 1988, and was formerly named the Shenyang Research Institute of Thrombosis and Liaoning Province Thrombosis Treatment Center of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. In June 1998, it was renamed China Traditional Medicine Thrombosis Treatment Center.
The Chinese Business Morning View said in a story on July 4, 2004, that a farm worker died of abnormal causes in Sujiatun, Shenyang and was later cremated. The death certificate was provided by the Chinese Medicine Thrombosis Treatment Center in Sujiatun. The news caused a stir in China.
A copy of the death certificate. (The Epoch Times Archives Photo)
Below is the transcript of an Epoch Times reporter's interview with the former staff member of the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine in Sujiantun, Shenyang City. Questions were posed by the reporter and answered by the staff member being interviewed.
Epoch Times: Did the hospital's medical staff inside the concentration camp know about this?
Answer: This hospital has a small number of officials and some doctors involved secretively in the operation of organ harvesting. Some other staff in the hospital knew about this, but this is absolutely a taboo [to talk about]. They all are afraid of being killed or courting trouble, so they all avoid the issue. Only those highly trusted doctors could be chosen to be the surgeons for organ harvesting operations.
ET: Were Falun Gong practitioners alive when their organs were harvested? Did their families know about this?
Answer: Falun Gong practitioners who were imprisoned there came mostly from Dabei Prison, Masanjia Labor Camp, and other prisons in Shenyang, or they were Falun Gong practitioners arrested in parks or residential homes. Because they refused to denounce Falun Gong, they were arrested without formal warrants, and their families did not know their situation. Many did not even have their names [recorded]. In addition, since the Chinese authority exercises a policy of "not being responsible" for killing Falun Gong practitioners, the death of Falun Gong practitioners is not a very big issue for prisons. The Chinese Communist Party persecutes Falun Gong, [but] these medical personnel were told Falun Gong practitioners were facing death because they killed people, or they were sentenced to death because of crimes, or they had become insane from practicing Falun Gong.
Those Falun Gong practitioners whose organs were harvested came from various places.
Organs harvested from live bodies are worth far more than organs taken from dead bodies. Many Falun Gong practitioners were still alive when their organs were taken. After their organs were cut out, some of these people were thrown directly into the crematorium to be burnt, thus leaving no evidence. For some others, after their organs were stolen, the doctor sewed up the wound and asked the family or family representative to give a signature for cremation. Family members did not know at all that the dead had their organs taken out.
Furthermore, there were some healthy Falun Gong practitioners in prisons in other areas who were injected—without their knowledge—with psychoactive drugs that made their minds confused. They then were transferred to Sujiantun concentration camp to suffer further torture, till in the end their organs were harvested and their bodies were cremated in secret.
Among the Falun Gong practitioners whose organs were harvested, some were weak and some were healthy. Since most of them were illegally arrested, there were no arrest warrants or identification cards. After their organs were taken out while they were still alive, no one came to claim their bodies; or [sometimes] people using fake identities claimed their bodies.
None of these people have come out [of the concentration camp] alive; three-quarters of these 6,000 people have died, having their hearts, kidneys, retinas, and skins harvested and their bodies disposed of. I think now about 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners are still in this hospital, and I am afraid now that the authority will destroy all evidence and kill them.
Question: How did you know these things? Were you yourself a doctor involved in organ harvesting?
Answer: I worked at the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Shenyang. This is exactly where this concentration camp is located. One of my family members was involved in the operation to harvest Falun Gong practitioners' organs. This has brought great pain to our family.
Question: Please tell us what you knew about.
Answer: From 2001, our hospital started to detain Falun Gong practitioners. At the beginning, these people were detained in the single-storey houses in the back yard of the hospital. Later, the hospital authorities demolished the single-storey houses, and it was unknown where in the hospital the Falun Gong practitioners were transferred. Many staff of the hospital discussed in private that these Falun Gong practitioners had been secretly transferred to the underground chambers of the hospital. According to some people working inside the hospital, the hospital has a huge system of secret underground chambers.
At the time when we went to work there, the person in charge of logistics and purchasing in the hospital said that the quantity of disposable sterile gloves used for operations and daily supplies that the hospital authorities asked to be purchased had increased dramatically. The logistics people estimated based on the scale of purchases at that time that there were at least 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners detained in this hospital.
These Falun Gong practitioners were not detained in the 4-story building under the in-patient department and administration at the front of the hospital, in order to keep the hospital staff from seeing them at all. We only occasionally saw Falun Gong practitioners being sent on a mobile intensive care bed to the first floor for physical examinations. These people were very weak. For the majority of the Falun Gong practitioners, nobody knew where they were being secretly kept. While they still did not know where these people were kept, some staff inquired to the hospital authorities about why so much food and so many sterile gloves and daily supplies were purchased. The hospital authorities said, "You only need to do your job well. There is no need for you to ask any other questions."
Starting in 2001, a family member of mine participated in organ-harvesting operations. My family member tried to keep me from knowing about this at the beginning. The hospital authorities selected doctors they trust in different aspects to perform the secretive operations. After a period of time, I found that my family member was in a lot of pain, often had nightmares, and appeared panic-stricken. After repeated inquiries, this family member told me the truth. The leader of the hospital had asked my family member to participate in the organ harvesting operations on Falun Gong practitioners as early as 2001. It was 2003 when my family member confessed. A few years after, my family member felt so much pain from participating in this incident that it was impossible to continue with the evildoing. My family member decided to go abroad to get away from this matter.
My family member also told me: "you don't understand my suffering; those Falun Gong practitioners were alive. It might be easier for me if they were dead, but they were alive."
Question: Were there any other doctors from the hospital taking part in the operations of cutting out Falun Gong practitioners' organs?
Answer: I know there were some. All these things have been carried out secretly. Many doctors at our hospital involved were practicum doctors transferred from other hospitals. Because the government does not want to be responsible for Falun Gong practitioners' bodies and lives, their lives are treated as garbage by the regime, and their bodies were used in experiments by new doctors doing their practitcums.
Many doctors came and left the hospital because they suffered a lot after having been involved in these kinds of things. They either requested to be transferred to other places, or changed their names. Some might have been killed to eliminate the evidence, their identity files were taken out from the hospital's filing system, or their names were changed. Nobody knows where the doctors have gone.
The hospital staff all know that the rear part of the hospital is forbidden. It is always watched. The staff avoids talking about the place.
Question: It is said the hospital is equipped with an incinerator. The person whose organs were removed will be burned when he or she is still alive. Is that true?
Answer: The employees in our hospital call this place "the incinerator." Actually, it is a boiler room. Some poor farmers from nearby places were hired to work in the boiler room. They were penniless when they first came here. But they could scrape up some watches, finger rings, necklaces, and so on. The amount is not small. It is said by the employees in the hospital these jewelry and watches were collected from the Falun Gong practitioners whose organs had been removed when they were about to be thrown in the boiler to be burned. It is also said by the employees in the hospital, some were still alive when being thrown into the boiler.
Question: Do they get injection of anesthetic when in surgery?
Answer: Yes. There is a cap to the anesthetic quantity used in mainland China's hospitals. Generally, the supply of anesthetic was determined according to the accommodation of the hospital. To the public, the number of patients in our care appears to be very small, and publicly reported number of surgical procedures performed is quite low. But the equipment and articles used in surgery are abundant. Because the amount of anesthetic is limited, these secret surgeries could not use the normal anesthetic doses. In order to save anesthetic, they economized on the anesthetic used in surgeries on these Falun Gong practitioners. The amount of anesthetic used was very small. However, many whose organs were removed were still alive. You can imagine the pain suffered by the Falun Gong practitioners whose organs were removed.
Question: Are there any survivors among the 6,000 people detained since 2001?
Answer: Nobody has come out alive. The number of them gets smaller and smaller. The Falun Gong practitioners detained at Sujiatun are fewer now than before. But I believe that the sin of removing the organs of the Falun Gong practitioners is still continuing.
Question: Where are these organs usually sold to? Do the higher authorities in the government know about this?
Answer: They are mainly sold to Thailand, but I believe they are also sold to other regions of the world. Nowadays, there are many patients in China who need human skin, corneas, and kidneys for organ transplant surgeries. Many patients have to wait in line to purchase organs. Currently, a kidney can be sold up to the price of 30,000 to 100,000 U.S. dollars. The profit from selling organs is simply too great. The people who benefit from this are not only the top leaders of hospitals and the officials of the Chinese Communist Party's Heath Department. This is a crime present across the entire nation. People ranging from government officials to doctors to organ sellers are all involved in this and are profiting greatly.
Question: Why did they target Falun Gong practitioners as the source of organs?
Answer: Because relatives of many Falun Gong practitioners don't even know that their family members were arrested. So if the Falun Gong practitioners are killed, there will be no one to come and claim their dead bodies.
Question: Why did you want to expose this? This may bring great danger to you.
Answer: I know that there are many Falun Gong practitioners who are currently detained at the hospital. I would like to expose this to the international community, so those who are not yet killed can be saved. Also, I would like to expose this as an atonement for my family.
I am not a Falun Gong practitioner. But as a former staff member of the hospital, I have the responsibility to expose the truth, and let the world to save those Falun Gong practitioners who are still alive. Organs of some Falun Gong practitioners are still living on patients' bodies. I would like to call on all society to pay attention to this issue and stop this shocking crime.

Editor - Jay Nordlinger of National Review Online - March 30, 2006

March 30, 2006, 7:22 a.m.A Place Called SujiatunAre they killing Falun Gong, for their organs?
There is a horrifying story going around the world: In the northeast of China, thousands of prisoners are being held, so that they can be killed for their organs. The prisoners are practitioners of Falun Gong, the meditation-and-exercise system. The facility at which they are being held — called a "concentration camp" or a "death camp" — is at Sujiatun. Chinese human-rights activists believe that this name should cause the same shudders as Treblinka and the others.

I cannot say whether this story is true; I can say that one ought to pay attention.
Of course, "organ-harvesting" is a very familiar story: The PRC has been doing it, with prisoners, for many years. In 2001, the U.S. Congress held hearings on the matter, which caused a sensation. But the sensation died down, as sensations tend to do. Organ-harvesting has gone on, with no negative consequences for the Chinese government.
Organ-selling is a huge business for the Chinese. You can obtain organs in China as you can nowhere else: any type, and very speedily.
The subject of organ-harvesting has been revived by the discovery of Sujiatun. I will not attempt to do justice to this story in this space (as though justice could be done). I will mainly direct you to the website of the Epoch Times, and specifically to its archive on Sujiatun: here. The Epoch Times is an international newspaper whose reason for being is to tell the truth about China. Media in China itself, of course, are government-owned or -controlled.
I also wish to direct you to an article by the tireless Bill Gertz of the Washington Times: here.
How do we know about Sujiatun? Mainly through two witnesses, indescribably brave. One is a woman whose husband was a doctor who took part in the organ-harvesting; the other is a Chinese journalist, long based in Japan, who investigated the matter. Both are now in the United States, in hiding, in fear of their lives. I talked to the journalist, by phone, on Monday morning.
First, a further word about the woman: You can read an Epoch Times interview with her here, and a follow-up story here. They will give you all the details a human mind can take, and probably more. In brief, her husband became deranged by his work, unable to go on. The wife did not intend to step forward as a witness, but concluded that she had no choice.
I will indulge in just a few details. The woman's husband said to her, "You don't understand my suffering. Those Falun Gong practitioners were alive. It might be easier for me if they were dead, but they were alive."
The woman also said this, to the Epoch Times: "Some poor farmers from nearby places were hired to work in the boiler room. [This served as the crematory.] They were penniless when they first came. . . . But they could scrape up some watches, finger rings, necklaces, and so on. The amount is not small."
Finally, she said, "I would like to expose this to the international community, so those who are not yet killed can be saved. Also, I would like to expose this as an atonement for my family."
Now to the Chinese journalist: His name is Jin Zhong — or so he calls himself for the purpose of media reports. I spoke to him when I was meeting with some Falun Gong activists in a New York conference room. One of them, Charles Lee, was recently released from a Chinese prison after three years' confinement. He was tortured, and I will be writing about him in the next issue of National Review. Dr. Lee is a U.S. citizen, by the way.
And, in a strange twist, he bore witness to organ-harvesting, while a young medical researcher in China, years ago. Prisoners would be shot in the back of the head, and their bodies would be hustled to a waiting van. There, doctors would extract their organs; Charles Lee served as an assistant, holding the instruments. Sometimes, the prisoners seemed not quite dead, he says. Before Dr. Lee and I talked, I was able to interview Jin Zhong by phone, using an associate of Dr. Lee's as a translator.
For an extended report on Mr. Jin, please see this Epoch Times article. I will say simply that he found out about Sujiatun when he was investigating SARS, and the extent of the Chinese government's cover-up of that problem. Some local officials let slip information about the Falun Gong camp, and its purpose. He could not believe what he was hearing: It was too horrific, too inhuman. But he pursued the story, and confirmed that what he had heard was true.
I ask Mr. Jin whether the officials felt guilty about this murder and organ-harvesting. He says, "Not at all."
Mr. Jin soon attracted the attention of the police, and was twice detained. He says he was tortured, while in detention. He managed to return to Japan, and then come to the United States. His family remains in Japan, and he says they have received death threats. Obviously, he fears for his own life here in America. PRC agents have never been respecters of national territory.
For those who care, Mr. Jin is not himself a Falun Gong practitioner. (Neither is the woman whose husband performed organ-harvesting.) "I'm not even interested," says Mr. Jin. But he is interested in humanity, and in justice. He says, "I trust that the CCP [the Chinese Communist Party] will try to kill me," for telling about Sujiatun. His life would have been far easier if he had kept quiet, but his conscience would not allow it.
I compliment him on his bravery. He says, "You're a journalist. You wouldn't have done any differently, in my position." I reply, "I can only hope that that is so."
Is the U.S. government aware of Sujiatun? Mr. Jin says he has informed interested congressmen and their aides. And friends of human rights in the media are weighing in. Peter Worthington concluded a piece in the Toronto Sun this way: "China's use of prisoners as guinea pigs, or as a supply to meet world demand, makes Nazi medical experimentation seem almost benign by comparison."
No one should bet that Sujiatun will penetrate the world's consciousness. Governments everywhere are keen on smooth relations with the PRC; media, even in free countries, seem to want to help them. The reluctance of major newspapers and TV networks to report on atrocities in China is a sad subject.
And I recall what Robert Conquest, the great analyst of totalitarianism, once told me: The world has seldom wanted to believe witnesses. Ten, 20, or 30 years later, maybe, but rarely sooner.
Testimony out of the early Soviet Union was scoffed at; these were "rumors in Riga." Tales of the Holocaust were Jewish whining. When escapees from Mao spilled into Hong Kong, they were "embittered warlords." When Cubans landed in Florida, they were "Batista stooges." And so on.
There is an extra incentive to look away from persecution when the victims are Falun Gong. Many people are suspicious of these meditators and slow-motion exercisers, with their strange philosophy. And massive Communist propaganda against them has not been without an effect. Western business leaders see Falun Gong standing in their way, or at least irritating them.
I have no idea what will happen to Jin Zhong, or to the wife of the doctor, or to the prisoners who remain in Sujiatun. It may well be that, with some international attention, the Chinese government will Potemkinize the place. They have done as much before, as have many governments like them. And it could be that people will simply not care about Sujiatun, no matter what is proven.
My main hope, at the moment, is that readers will glance at the reports I have mentioned, especially those in the Epoch Times. Because, sometimes, the unthinkable needs to be thought about, just a bit.
* * *

36 Concentration Camps in China - April 2, 2006

36 Concentration Camps in China

Informant Tells of Other Chinese Concentration Camps
Sujiatun is merely one of 36 concentration camps for Falun Gong in China
By an individual who identifies himself as a veteran military doctor
Special to The Epoch Times
Mar 31, 2006

Falun Gong practitioners reenact a scene of organ-harvesting in a parade in New York City (The Epoch Times)
[Editors' Note: This report is a compilation of information provided by an individual who identifies himself as a veteran military doctor in Shenyang military zone in Shenyang, Liaoning province, China. The Epoch Times has only added headings. The Epoch Times encourages more people to give us inside information about Sujiatun Concentration Camp or other similar camps imprisoning Falun Gong practitioners. The Epoch Times will be discreet and careful about your personal safety.]
I am a veteran military doctor in the logistics service in the army in Shenyang military zone. For safety's sake, I will not disclose my identity for now. The reports from outside China about Sujiatun Concentration Camp imprisoning Falun Gong practitioners are true, although some of the details are incorrect. The so-called underground Sujiatun Concentration Camp does exist. Organ harvesting is routine there. It is also a common practice to cremate dead or even living Falun Gong practitioners.
Ashes Given to Families Came from Animals or Other Bodies in the Crematorium
As many state regulations have stipulated, the top level of each provincial government has the authority to establish "recycling organizations" to process felons in the military zone under its jurisdiction. This practice is warranted by a legal document that the Chinese Communist Party's Central Military Commission established as early as 1962. This practice has never stopped to this day. According to the regulations in the document, death-penalty prisoners and felons may be processed according to the development needs of the state or of socialism. During the Great Cultural Revolution, the most extreme way to process these prisoners was to use their bodies for food. The second-most extreme way was to use them as slave labor for engineering or production work.
After a 1984 amendment, it became legal to harvest organs from felons. The police and judicial departments perform organ harvesting on living prisoners before cremating their bodies. Sometimes, they will injure the prisoners in a show execution before they perform organ harvesting on the injured prisoners. They then cremate their bodies.
Since 1992, such a practice has become public. Due to the development of many related businesses, human bodies have become profitable raw materials. Living human beings, as well as dead bodies, have become industrial raw materials.
Many crematoriums in China do not actually cremate the bodies after they receive them. Instead, these bodies are transferred elsewhere through secret tunnels. In many cases, the ashes given to the families of executed prisoners came from animals or from other people's bodies. Some of the bodies given to the families were even ancient Chinese people or victims of WWII. The actual bodies are sold at high prices to many different types of state-owned factories as raw materials for different products via many different channels. Nearly all the large crematoriums in China are engaged in such underground businesses.
The Hospital in Sujiatun Is Only One of 36 Similar Concentration Camps All Over China
The Chinese Communist Party has openly declared Falun Gong to be the "class enemies," turning Falun Gong practitioners into the target of its most severe suppression. In other words, the Chinese Communist Party has declared Falun Gong practitioners to be felons. The so-called hospitals in Sujiatun are but one of 36 similar concentration camps all over China. At present, the majority of detained Falun Gong practitioners are in prisons, forced labor camps, and detention centers. They are transferred elsewhere on a large scale only when special occasions call for it. Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces imprison the largest number of Falun Gong practitioners. The concentration camp in Jiutai Area, Jilin Province is the 5th-largest camp imprisoning Falun Gong practitioners in China. This camp alone detains over 14,000 Falun Gong practitioners.
Jilin Concentration Camp, Codenamed 672-S, Imprisons over 120,000 People
Based on information I have access to, the largest concentration camp is in Jilin Province. This concentration camp, codenamed 672-S, imprisons over 120,000 people. A large number of Falun Gong practitioners, felons, and prisoners of conscience from all over China are there, but I do not know its address.
More Than 10,000 People Detained in Sujiatun Concentration Camp in Early 2005
In the so-called underground concentration camp of the Sujiatun District Hospital, there were indeed over 10,000 people kept there in early 2005, but at the present time, the number of detainees there is maintained at 600-750. Many detainees have been transferred to other concentration camps.
5,000 People Can Be Transferred in 24 hours by Covert Rail Routes
It takes no more than a day to transfer 5,000 people in a closed freight train on a special route. I have witnessed a specially dispatched freight train transferring over 7,000 people in one trip from Tianjin to the Jilin area. It ran at night, guarded by the Chinese army. Everyone on the train was handcuffed to specially designed handrails on top of the ceiling like rotisserie chickens.
You Won't Find Any Evidence Even if You Enter Sujiatun to Investigate
It is useless to enter Sujiatun trying to investigate the concentration camp because it is easy to transfer several thousand people.
CCP's Top Ranks Name Falun Gong Practitioners "Class Enemies," Useful Only to Generate Income
One must understand that based on the latest decisions by the Chinese Communist Party's top level: The Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee agreed to treat Falun Gong practitioners as "class enemies" and to handle them in any economically beneficial manner without having to report to higher authorities. In other words, Falun Gong practitioners, like many actual felons in China, are no longer regarded as human beings, but as raw materials for commercial products. They have become commodities.
This is as much as I can tell you.

Attorney Gao Zhisheng and Sujiatun Death Camp in China

Attorney Gao Zhisheng and Sujiatun Death Camp in China (audio)

Special Report for NY English SOH Broadcast – March 26, 2006 Hello, this is Drew Carlucci with a special report for March 26, 2006. Today we bring you continuing coverage of Mr. Gao Zhisheng, the attorney who has emerged as one of China’s foremost activists in the struggle for democracy and human rights. We also have continuing coverage of Sujiantun Concentration Camp, where the harvesting of organs from live Falun Gong practitioners is big business for the CCP. Last fall, attorney Gao sent several open letters to CCP leaders Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao. Extremely troubling to him was the six-year persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. In one letter he wrote “This continuous, systematic, large-scale and organized persecution against Chinese people practicing Falun Gong” is a “barbaric atrocity”. Another letter documented accounts of torture experienced by Falun Gong practitioners in secret mountain chambers in northeastern China. Gao’s letters were met with silence and then oppression. His law firm was shut down; then his legal license was revoked. But he kept writing and joined the millions of Chinese who have quit the Chinese Communist Party. His family was placed under 24-hour surveillance by as many as 100 policemen; his 12-year old daughter was followed to school. In an interview with SOH, his wife had this to say:
“We all feel that the oppression is unbelievable. Why is this happening? Each petitioner has their own case, but our governments don’t offer solutions. We’re just trying to help out as individuals. Now the governments don’t even allow us to do that. This is why I feel Gao is in a very difficult situation. Why is it so hard to do anything good or just do our best in this country? Are they not human beings?
Beginning in late October, Gao and our child became the subjects of surveillance by the CCP. I discovered that they started first with our child on October 20th, then they followed us from work and finally from our home. They have continuously increased their efforts to oppress us, and now they even stalk us. One thing worth mentioning is that in the afternoon of the 29th, I had to stay late for work. It was well past five o’clock when they became impatient waiting outside of my office. They were so anxious that they started ringing the doorbell. They pressed so hard on the bell, it was like “Du…..” They were following me and even got very anxious about my getting off work late. They are just like hoodlums and rascals.”

On January 12, Gao was arrested, detained and released on the same day. Five days later he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when a car tried to run him over. His entire office staff has been arrested. Gao said, “In China today, the CCP’s oppression only leads to people’s awakening.” He says that the 100 days of monitoring him and his family is a failure, and that the CCP has not won anything but HE has gained something. He said that his little daughter has become mature during the savage oppression.

On Feb. 4, Gao launched a relay hunger strike. He started a 48-hour hunger strike and released the following statement, “As a human rights lawyer, I have to use this hunger strike to protest the CCP’s brutality. What a tragedy of this nation and in our time!”

“I feel so sad that many people who are on hunger strike are hungry, because I’m very hungry too. It is a tragedy of our time. When all legal means to protect human rights are prevented, we have to use our body as the last resort to protest the government’s brutality. We want to live with dignity.”
Clive Ansley, a Canadian lawyer who practiced law in China for 14 years, gave the following description of the Chinese Communist regime:

“The government of China today is a Fascist government. The dictionary definition of Fascism is essentially a brutal and absolute dictatorship carried out by an alliance of government, the military and big business. That’s exactly what you have today in China.”

At 6 a.m. Beijing standard time, March 11th, attorney Gao began his fourth turn in the Global Relay Hunger Strike. Since February 18th, Gao has been fasting every Saturday to support the hunger strike for human rights. At the same time on March 11th, people in twenty-seven provinces and cities across China began their own hunger strikes to show support for Gao. He told a reporter that on March 10th, several thousand staff members at a large company in Shanxi Province also participated in the hunger strike. He said the central theme is still to protest against the Chinese Communist Party’s organized criminal activities, the police and their criminal-like violence towards Chinese citizens.

During the days surrounded by plainclothes police, anyone who went to see him was taken away or arrested, including proxy lawyers. More recently, Gao received death threats from policemen.
Gao Zhisheng: At approximately 11 am, my wife shouted up from the entrance to my office, calling me to come downstairs quickly because the secret police downstairs were fighting with lawyer Li Heping. I quickly ran downstairs and saw two husky six-foot-tall fellows shoving lawyer Li Heping around in the foyer and attempting to take him away by force. When I pointed out to the thugs the illegality of their actions, one of them flashed an ID card at attorney Li. On it was written Beijing Police Station Officer Li Liang. Li Liang and his companions wanted to take me away forcefully as well. When I requested him to show me a legal document he looked surprised and answered: “Do you know who you are talking to? Who says we need a warrant? It is not necessary.”

During the whole time, Li Liang and his anonymous partner, who was over six feet tall, approached me closely. While Li Liang was wrestling with Li Heping, this other, with his face inches away from mine, threatened me many times. Then he said the following, which I found most interesting:”Gao, you must remember what I say today; you cannot remain this arrogant for long. In a few days we will bring you somewhere to talk and I will make you suffer horribly, so you must remember my words today!” From the way he gritted his teeth while he spoke those words, one could tell that here guarded me completely as his personal enemy although this was our first meeting, making me wonder whether to laugh or cry! Another plainclothes policeman came in right up to my face and said, “Let me tell you clearly, you will not remain arrogant for long. In a few days time when we meet alone somewhere, we will definitely treat you nicely.” Yet another secret police who was also well-built came rushing in. This fellow had a fat head with a thick face and wore a thick chain on his neck. He pushed his fat face close to mine and said to me fiercely, “Gao Zhisheng, you are going to die soon! Mark my words, you are nearing death! Who do you think you are? Even those on top have to listen to us; even Hu Jintao does as we tell him. We can create enough evidence in a day to arrest you a hundred times. Just wait and see. Very soon we will let you know who we are! Let me warn you one last time: you will die soon.”

Yet, despite these threats to his life, he continues to fight for justice. On March 18th, Gao wrote in his hunger strike diary – urging the UN and international organizations to investigate Sujiatun Concentration Camp, which was reported by the Epochtimes newspaper.
Sujiantun Concentration Camp
On March 9, 2006, the Epoch Times reported that a former Chinese journalist working at the Chinese embassy in Japan, revealed the existence of a concentration camp called “Sujiatun” in Shenyang city, Liaoning province, in northeastern China. He said “Falun Gong practitioners have been killed for their organs, which are sent off to various medical facilities…organ sales are now a highly profitable business in China.” The concentration camp is underneath what used to be a hospital, and employs an "unusually large number of doctors" where Falun Gong practitioners have been detained, tortured, and harvested for their organs since 2001.
According to a recent article published by the Washington Times, the journalist, who goes by the pseudonym Jin Zhong to protect his identity, said he first learned of the harvesting operation between October and December and that the prisoners were Falun Gong practitioners. He said, "This is murder, and murder sponsored by a state. It must be stopped."The Washington Times also reported that while researching the Chinese government's response to SARS, Mr. Jin discovered the underground detention center where he said thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were being imprisoned. Mr. Jin stated that bodies of the prisoners were incinerated in the boiler room of the hospital and that boiler room workers had taken valuables from the dead and sold them. He said he has provided information about the Sujiatun organ harvesting operation to U.S. government officials, including members of Congress.
Mr. Jin held that his identity must be kept anonymous, after being threatened by Chinese government agents. He recently fled to the United States, where he hopes to seek political asylum.
The Chinese government has declined comment while Falun Gong practitioners have requested governments worldwide to begin an investigation. The subject of organ sales caught mainstream media’s attention last year when China officially admitted that organs for transplantation were from executed prisoners.
In a recent interview with Sound of Hope reporters, attorney Gao Zhisheng said, “Sujiatun concentration camp is reminiscent of a Nazi death camp. It is a must to conduct an investigation. The United Nations and international communities must take responsibility and must be sensitive to this issue. It is well known that the CCP is most capable of committing crimes and destroying evidence effectively. If it is delayed, the evidence will be destroyed, the CCP will do whatever it can to destroy the evidence; this would put more people at risk. This is a crime against humanity. All my three open letters can be counted as evidence. Any international organization can investigate this. I’m willing to lead them to the site for investigation.”
Since China’s illegal organ trade has been exposed in recent years, the United States Congress has held numerous hearings. According to transcripts dated June 27, 2001, from a State Department hearing entitled Sale of Human Organs in China, knowledge of the sale of human organs from executed prisoners in China has been reported by Hong Kong and London media as early as the mid-1980s. “We repeatedly raised this issue with high-level Chinese officials throughout the 1990s, pressing for changes in Chinese policy and practice, and urging changes in China’s legal and medical systems to ensure the protection of individual rights and the guarantee of due process. We consider organ harvesting from executed prisoners, without permission from family members, to be an egregious human rights abuse that violates not only international human rights law, but also international medical ethical standards.” (For more information, visit www.state.gov.)

In 2001, Harry Wu and Dr. Tom Diflo, experts on illegal organ transplants in China, both testified before U.S. Congress about such illegal practices in state-owned Chinese hospitals.
Wu, founder of the Laogai Research Foundation, has tracked media reports of people from all over Asia, traveling to China to take advantage of the abundant supply of organs from executed prisoners. In 2002, after more than 10 years investigation, he hosted and compiled 'An Investigative Report on China's Harvesting of Executed Prisoners' Organ'."
In an interview with NTDTV, Harry Wu was asked to comment on the widespread practice of organ harvesting in China. Wu believes the gruesome practice is allowed to proliferate in China because it is a behavior organized by the Chinese Communist Regime. He explains:
"On October 9, 1984, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs stipulated that executed prisoners' corpses and organs may be supplied for use under these 3 conditions:
1. No family members or anyone else takes back the corpse.
2. Prior personal agreement by the executed prisoner
3. Agreement by family members.
Any one of these 3 requirements is enough for the government. In practice, this means no matter what tactics the government uses, in the end it is enough to meet any of the 3 criteria.
In order to demonstrate prisoner agreement, if a prisoner presses his finger on an execution document during torture before the police, this constitutes an agreement. If family members must be paid off afterwards, this constitutes a 'family agreement'.
The first, most convenient condition is even more ridiculous. What does 'no one takes back the corpse' mean? For example, a certain laborer will be executed in Shenzhen, but his hometown is in Sichuan Province or this laborer is executed in Shanghai, and his hometown is in Hunan Province. His family members do not have enough time to rush there by train, so how could they take back the corpse? The government does not notify them either. This is called 'nobody takes the corpse.' This is easily orchestrated."
This investigative reporter listed many gruesome examples organ removal from still-living victims. But many Chinese medical personnel and even many ordinary people regard this as common practice. Harry Wu indicates it is all because the Chinese mentality has been twisted under the education of the Chinese Communist Party's brutal totalitarian rule into a special kind of thinking and culture."

Harry Wu spent 19 years in a Chinese labor camp. He says the common practice is to execute the prisoner with a shot to the back of the head, remove his organs, and transport them to nearby hospitals.
Dr. Tom Diflo, director of kidney transplantation at New York University Medical Center, has researched illegal organ transplants in China. His findings confirm those of Wu.
In an interview with SOH, Dr. Diflo recounted his story:
I had encountered some Chinese patients who had gone to China, and they came back with kidneys. And when I asked where they came from, they said, “oh, my cousin”, or something like that. But some of them told me they had bought the kidneys from executed prisoners. So, that got my interest. And I started investigating it. So it was my interests in that and my investigating, that I eventually met Harry Wu, from the Laogai Research Foundation, and he got me to testify in front of Congress on that day in 2001 about this practice and what I thought about it.
The problem was, these organs were being taken from prisoners who were executed and they were taken from the prisoners right after execution and transplanted. Although the government said this was something they got consent for, that the prisoners agreed to it beforehand, or the families consented, the evidence was overwhelming that there wasn’t any consent involved. Certainly the execution dates are scheduled around the time of when people are wanting to get their transplants and things like that. My opinion is that it’s terrible. That it’s ethically and morally reprehensible. They’re taking the organs from the prisoners without their consent, without the consent of the families, they’re violating their bodies. And this is all a purely a cash business. It’s meant to raise money for the hospitals, for the doctors, and for the system.
When asked about the Sujiatun Concentration Camp, and on the recent discovery of Falun Gong practitioners having their organs removed while they are still alive, Dr.Diflo had this to say:
”If in fact they’re taking organs out of living people, purely for the purpose of transplantation without consent, that’s even more of a human rights horror than the prisoner situation. The non-consensual taking of organs out of people is perhaps the great violation of their human rights that I can think of”.
And finally, when asked whether he believed that the Chinese Communist Regime was suppressing information on the widespread practice of organ selling in China, Dr. Diflo commented:
“It certainly appears to me that any information like that, the government likes to keep under wraps, like the AIDS epidemic that happened in China because of the pooling of blood, they really minimized that for years and it blew up in their face. But it would not surprise me, knowing what I know about the Chinese government, it would not surprise me if they were suppressing that information, and if they're pulling organs out of people. I'm sure they don't want anyone to know about it”.
In an article dated March 15th, the Epoch Times reported, “The lack of transparency in the Chinese Communist regime’s criminal justice system, the secrecy that surrounds prison executions and the removal of organs make actual documentation of the practice difficult.” However, several eyewitnesses have reported on this human rights violation. The article further reports, “in June 2001, Wang Guoqi, a Chinese former military physician, offered chilling evidence to the US Congress of how he had to harvest organs of more than 100 executed prisoners. In one case he had to skin a shot victim’s body while the man was still alive. Skin is particularly “valuable” for its use in burns victims. Dr. Wang, who at the time was seeking asylum in the U.S., alleged that corneas and other body tissues were removed for transplants, and said his hospital, the Tianjin Paramilitary Police General Brigade Hospital, sold body parts for profit, reported the Guardian.”
Confirming earlier reports on the existence of the Sujiatun Concentration Camp, on March 17th, 2006, the Epoch Times reported that a former employee of the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine revealed that “the Sujiantun Concentration Camp in China was indeed part of a hospital. The concentration camp has engaged in taking organs from Falun Gong practitioners when they were still alive and selling the organs. Since 2001, the concentration camp has secretly detained approximately 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners, and removed kidneys, livers, and corneas. After the organ removal, the practitioners were thrown into an incinerator, which was converted from a boiler. Their ashes were dumped together with burned charcoal. No Falun Gong practitioners have ever left the camp alive.”
Subjects of live cornea removal are mainly the elderly or children.
The witness further explained that many of the victims were illegally detained with neither an arrest warrant nor identification as to who these people actually were. “About three-quarters of the 6,000 people died after their hearts, kidneys, corneas, or skin was removed; their bodies were then burned. This witness, whose family member participated in the removal of Falun Gong practitioners’ organs, said that approximately 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners remain in the hospital. She was afraid that the authorities would kill all of them to destroy evidence.”
Also coming forward, according to NTDTV, a former CCP spy-turned-informant substantiated reports that the Sujiatun labor camp is kept completely sealed from the public and under tight security. He concur ed that thousands of Falun Gong practitioners known to be detained there are being kept for their organs. The agent also validated earlier reports of detained Falun Gong practitioners being shipped to Sujiatun from other camps in China. The agent wishes to remain anonymous for security purposes.

A representative for a U.S. based human rights group called The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) had this to say on Sujiatun:

In our initial investigation, there truly exists a large "organ market" in Sujiatun, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. It is a systematic procedural practice, which includes building the death camp, detaining the "suppliers," (living Falun Gong practitioners,) matching Falun Gong practitioners' organs with people who need them, surgically removing the organs, eliminating the victims' bodies, and setting up the hospitals that use these stolen organs.

And in one of the grizzliest stories to surface, from the website, Clearwisdom.net, it was reported that a few doctors conducted live experiments on the prisoners, and some high-ranking CCP officials requested to have the prisoners’ brain matter sent to them as nutritional supplements.Regarding the horrific Chinese organ harvesting trade, Canadian attorney, Clive Ansley, who spent 14 years practicing law in China, gives his opinion of the communist government’s policy towards human rights and rule of law.

“One of the most fundamental goals of Chinese government policy today is specifically to prevent the slightest improvement in human rights or in the rule of law because the rule of law means the end of the rule of communist party. The two can’t coexist. So every organ, every agency and every organization in China is simply a puppet for public display controlled by a puppeteer from behind and out of sight. A hundred percent of media, all the formal institutes of government, the police, the courts, so called labour unions, so called chamber of commerce, the arm forces, and then extra-legal groups such as the 610 office in charge of persecution of Falun Gong no legal bases at all dictating government’s policy. There is no doubt at all that history will condemn this government’s murderous record.”

Believing that the crimes committed by the Chinese communist regime will eventually be brought to justice, Attorney Gao Zhisheng had this to say, "The CCP is doomed to lose this battle of good against evil. Why? Because the weapons that determine the success of this combat are morality and righteousness. Evil and violence cannot exterminate righteousness."
This was a special report for Sound of Hope Radio.
